Sobyanin opened a new embankment in Moscow

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened a new embankment on the right bank of the Moskva River between the Shelepikhinsky and Belorussky bridges. During the reconstruction, specialists have equipped 1.9 km of pedestrian and bicycle paths, equipped a children's and sports grounds, according to the website. mos.ru .

Work on this segment has been underway since 2023. As noted on the Moscow portal, the main objective of the project was to create a comfortable public space near the water for walking and relaxing. The name for the embankment will be chosen in the project "Active Citizen". Residents of the district approached Sobyanin with such an initiative during the inspection, and the mayor supported it.

Special attention was paid during the reconstruction to the retaining wall, which runs along the entire length of the embankment. It was assembled from monolithic reinforced concrete elements: this design reliably holds the coastal slope, preventing the soil from sliding, eroding and collapsing into the river. The top of the wall was lined with slabs of granite and stone.

The open embankment is part of a large project of a single 7 km long river promenade. It will stretch from the sail bridge at Novozavodskaya Street to the Dorogomilovsky Bridge, next to which stands the building of the theater "Workshop of P.N. Fomenko". The promenade will run along residential areas, some of which are under construction.

To date, two of the four stages (1.4 km) have been completed. In 2023, the section from the Akademika Koroleva Bridge to the Shelepikhinsky Bridge with a length of 0.6 km was opened, in 2026 — the section from the Shelepikhinsky Bridge to the Belorussky Railway Bridge with a length of 0.8 km. Work is currently underway on two more stages (5.6 km). The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
