Zakharova pointed to the manifestation of Russophobia when the EU imposed sanctions against VK

The European Union (EU) imposed sanctions against VK under a delusional pretext, such actions can be called a manifestation of impotent anger and Russophobia. This was announced on July 15 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

The EU has imposed restrictions against VK and the Communication Platform. Zakharova recalled that the pretext for imposing these sanctions was allegedly the assistance of these platforms in tracking down opposition figures in Russia.

"Everyone has long been accustomed to the fact that the European Union and the collective West as a whole do not bother to find any clear explanations or logical chains of illegitimate unilateral restrictions. Therefore, the pretext voiced in this case looks simply delusional, but just as delusional as the previous ones, it is absolutely unsubstantiated," she said at a briefing.

According to the diplomat, Brussels has once again demonstrated its desire to complicate the lives of Russians and those who want to receive information about Russia directly in any way.

"There is a manifestation of impotent anger and chronic Russophobia," Zakharova concluded.

On July 13, the VK holding's press service reported that the EU Council had officially imposed sanctions on VK, as well as the Communications Platform company, which is called the legal entity of Max in the EU. At the same time, VK said that the sanctions did not affect the work.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 14 that the EU's decision to impose sanctions against the Russian messenger Maks indicates that European countries are following a repressive rather than a democratic approach.
