The nutritionist named a step-by-step technique for freezing berries for the winter
Nutritionist Nuria Dianova told how to freeze berries properly for the winter. In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, July 15, she pointed out that the process requires professional tricks.
The nutritionist advised to freeze the berries in small portions of 150-200 g. According to her, before that, they must be washed, thoroughly dried, laid out in a single layer in vacuum bags and the air removed. If the freezer does not support the shock freezing mode, this method will help to better preserve the structure of the berries.
The expert noted that it is a common mistake to put berries in the freezer directly from the bucket. She explained that when frozen in one layer, each berry freezes separately, and it is better to defrost them gradually, transferring them from the freezer to the refrigerator in advance.
On July 14, Diana spoke about the correct and incorrect processing of berries. She noted that the most unsuccessful way of harvesting berries is cooking, especially with added sugar.
On July 6, therapist and nutritionist Tatiana Zaletova told Moscow 24 that when cooking berries, most of the vitamin C is lost, but potassium, magnesium and calcium turn into syrup in an easily digestible form. The berries can also be dried in a dehydrator. At the same time, vitamin C losses are about 30-40%, and fiber is completely preserved, according to 360.ru .
In May, it was reported that strawberries, cherries and raspberries account for 80% of the demand for berries in Moscow this season, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
