Cuba restored power supply after massive blackout

Cuba restored electricity supply after the blackout. This was stated to Izvestia on July 15 by an informed source in the republic.

"The power supply was gradually restored, and a few minutes ago it was possible to reconnect the country's unified energy system — from Pinar del Rio to Holguin," the source stressed.

According to him, Cuba is still experiencing a shortage of generating capacity due to the blockade imposed by the United States, so some of the population may still be without electricity.

The collapse of Cuba's national electric power system occurred on July 14, 2026 at around 11:00 a.m. local time. The trigger for the total blackout was an accident at a generating unit in the eastern province of Holguin.

The previous massive blackout in Cuba occurred on July 7. The blackout affected the entire national electric power system.
