FT has learned about the offer to acquire PayPal for more than $53 billion
Stripe payment service and Advent International investment company have submitted a joint offer to purchase the PayPal Holdings international payment system, valuing the entire company at more than $53 billion. This was reported on July 15 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.
According to the authors of the material, citing their own sources, the consortium is ready to purchase PayPal securities at a price of $ 60.50 per share, which is about 28% higher than their value at the close of trading on Tuesday. This offer has already been secured by firm commitments from leading banks to provide financing in the amount of about $50 billion. In case of successful completion of the transaction, Stripe and Advent International plan to receive equal shares in the share capital of the purchased business.
An official appeal to PayPal's management was received earlier this month, while the first initiative to buy out the business was put forward by investors back in April. At the moment, the payment system has not responded to this proposal in any way, and official representatives of PayPal, Stripe and Advent International categorically refuse to comment on possible negotiations, the FT added.
The Financial Times reported on July 2 that Volkswagen carmaker may consider selling its Lamborghini and Ducati brands as part of a cost-cutting restructuring. The consultants advise Volkswagen management to think about this step after the successful sale of a controlling stake in Everllence, a marine engine manufacturer.
