The Khorkhog Gastrofestival will be held in Transbaikalia for the fifth time.

On August 8, the international gastronomic festival "Khorkhog. Agin mutton on the rocks." It will be held on the territory of the Nomad ethnocomplex.

It is expected that about 7 thousand people will become guests of the festival. According to Anna Sotnikova, Acting Director of the regional Tourism Agency, this festival has already become traditional for Transbaikalia. He gathers people who want to show their culinary skills.

The participants will prepare a national dish, khorkhog. This is mutton made in a cauldron with red-hot stones. The chefs will present the dish dressed up in Buryat costumes.

The organizers have planned a contest "The best family in national clothes", in which parents with children will walk along the catwalk. The proceeds from the sale of tickets from the charity lottery will be used to support the participants of the charity lottery.

The festival was first held in October 2021. Since then, it has been held every year. In 2024, culinary specialists from Buryatia and Mongolia became the guests of the festival, and a family from China won, writes ChitaMedia news agency.

Earlier, Vyacheslav Mamontov, Executive Director of the Association of Beer, Malt and Beverage Producers, said that festivals play a significant role in the development of both gastronomic and consumer culture. According to Mamontov, among the most notable events were the festivals held in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
