A monument was erected to the shepherd dog that saved dozens of lives in the Kuban

In the Krasnodar Territory, in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, a monument was erected to a service shepherd dog named Yelga. For many years, she served in law enforcement agencies and saved dozens of human lives.

According to KrasnodarMedia news agency, the dog took part in business trips in Chechnya and Ingushetia. Demonstrating her unique nose, she helped to find explosives and defuse mines.

One of the highlights of her professional life was the discovery of a tripwire with a hand grenade and a machine—gun crew. During the next task, Yelga died.

A memorial stone was erected in the city, on which words were carved, which became a tribute of respect and gratitude from everyone with whom the dog had the opportunity to work.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region noted that Yelga's feat will forever remain in the memory of colleagues, and the monument will be a reminder of the loyalty and selfless devotion of service dogs who risk daily for the safety of people.

On July 9, it was reported that the corgi of a girl detained by law enforcement agencies who was planning a terrorist attack against a high-ranking military official of the Russian Defense Ministry had found a new home. Social media users expressed concern about the fate of the dog with which the defendant was at the time of the arrest. The security services reported that new owners have already been found for the corgi and there are no plans to transfer the animal to a shelter.
