The State Duma proposed to pay the "13th pension" before the New Year

Andrei Svintsov, deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, submitted to the House of Parliament a bill on the introduction of additional payments to pensioners of the "13th pension" before the New Year. The relevant document was published on the Internet portal of the legislative support system.

The initiative provides for the introduction of payments for all recipients of insurance pensions, state pension benefits and military pensions. At the same time, the amount of funds is proposed to be set at the level of a citizen's monthly pension.

The explanatory note notes that before the New Year holidays, pensioners face high costs for gifts and groceries, so they need additional government support. Svintsov stressed that the payment should apply to both working and non-working pensioners.

The chairman of the Party of Pensioners, Eric Holiday, noted that the "13th pension" will be the first stage in the implementation of the pension standard, which also provides for an increase in pensions, the creation of individual retirement accounts with the possibility of inheriting savings and additional payments for representatives of socially significant professions.

The increase in social pensions from April will affect the disabled, children with disabilities and citizens without insurance experience.

The initiative to introduce the 13th pension to strengthen social support for citizens in June was also highlighted by Nikolai Kolomeitsev, first Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs. In his opinion, for senior citizens who do not have help from children or relatives, such a payment can become a critical financial safety cushion. Kolomeitsev noted that the initiative will have a positive impact on macroeconomic indicators.

Also, the "13th pension" for the New Year was proposed back in January by the leader of the Just Russia party and the head of the faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov. He explained that the amount sent should also not be less than 1.5 times the pensioner's subsistence level.
