Customs officers found almost 200 dried scorpions and beetles in a package from Thailand.

Employees of the Central Postal Customs in Moscow found 185 dried exotic scorpions and beetles in an international mail shipment from Thailand to Voronezh. This was announced on July 15 by the press secretary of the department, Ksenia Grebenkina.

"With the help of an X-ray machine, customs officers found 125 Asian forest scorpions with characteristic black color with large claws and 60 bright iridescent leaf beetles with "frog" legs in the parcel. Each individual was attached to a cardboard backing and packaged in cellophane," she said.

In the declaration, the sender indicated that he was sending "dried edible insects" worth about 11.5 thousand rubles, but the necessary documents were missing. The goods were banned from import by the decision of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the parcel was returned to the sender.

Last November, employees of the Central Postal Customs found 200 dried exotic beetles in parcels from Peru. Experts estimated the cost of the insect collection at 1.5 million rubles. The collection featured the world's largest nocturnal woodcutter, a titan from the barbel family with a length of almost 20 cm, as well as weevil beetles and rhinoceroses from the Lamellaceae family.
