- Sakhalin Region is preparing for the exhibition "Street of the Far East" at the WEF-2026
The Sakhalin Region will participate in the exhibition "Street of the Far East", which will be held as part of the XI Eastern Economic Forum. The exposition of the island region will be devoted to the main investment and social projects, the history and culture of Sakhalin, and will also tell about the development of unmanned aircraft. The exhibition is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District.
"Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands remain one of the most dynamically developing territories in the Far East. Within the framework of Sakhalin TOP, 95 residents are implementing projects under agreements with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, and 22 projects have been commissioned. 51.5 billion rubles of the planned 234.8 billion have already been invested in the region's economy, more than 3.5 thousand jobs have been created, and another 12.3 thousand will be created.. In addition, a master plan for the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk agglomeration is being implemented on behalf of the head of state. The social infrastructure is being upgraded with the help of the Far Eastern Presidential Single Subsidy. The island region is becoming more attractive for tourism and relocation. I am sure that the region has something to show at the Eastern Economic Forum and the Far East Street exhibition and something to surprise the guests of the pavilion," said Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The pavilion's slogan "Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands — islands of the future" reflects the ideas of technological progress, social orientation and investment attractiveness of the region.
"Today, businesses are actively investing in logistics, tourism infrastructure, the fishing industry, coal industry, processing, agriculture, housing and construction industry, localization of oilfield services, modernization of housing and communal services, healthcare and education. We have achieved not only a record volume of investments, but also the highest growth rate. Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands are the islands of the future, where they are already building a reality that they want to invest in," said Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region.
In the Sakhalin Region Economy zone, the results of work within the framework of national projects in medicine, education and urban planning will be presented. In particular, the guests of the exhibition will be able to get acquainted with the "Happy Motherhood" program, aimed at a comprehensive solution to the demographic problem in the region. Separate modules will be devoted to the Mountain Air ski resort and the Sakhalintech scientific and educational cluster.
The cultural program of the pavilion will introduce the guests of the exhibition to the creative life of the islands. Sakhalin artists will perform on stage, and artists will hold performances and master classes. Virtual trips will take guests to the Golovnin volcano caldera, the seal rookeries and the legendary Aniva Lighthouse. The pavilion will be decorated with murals and works by Sakhalin photo artists. Quizzes with prizes and an open-air coffee bar are waiting for guests.
In addition, regional brands will be presented at the Made on Sakhalin stand: clothing, gastronomy, health products, and film industry products. In turn, the Professional Development platform will be devoted to topics related to youth support in the labor market and success stories of those who have connected their lives with Sakhalin.
The XI Eastern Economic Forum will be held on September 1-4 at the Far Eastern Federal University campus in Vladivostok. These days, the exhibition will be available to Forum participants, and on September 5, 6 and 7, it will open to all comers. The WEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation.
