Von der Leyen arrives in Kyiv on her 11th visit

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced her arrival in Kiev on July 15, where she plans to discuss the integration of the defense sectors, the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union and preparations for the upcoming winter.

"I arrived in Kiev on my 11th visit," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

In her publication, the politician stated that she intends to announce new initiatives to integrate the European and Ukrainian defense industries to accelerate and increase arms production.

Nine European countries, including the Coalition of the Willing, agreed on July 13 to create an association with Ukraine to counter ballistic missile attacks. The members of the new coalition intend to combine defense industry bases, research and experience to create a joint missile defense capability in Europe.

Von der Leyen said on June 16 that the European Union would raise the issue of allocating up to 45 billion euros to Kiev at the G7 summit in Evian. She confirmed that the first tranche of €9 billion under the general credit line will be transferred to Kiev by the end of the year.
