The Russian Foreign Ministry called the Dutch reaction to the desecration of the graves of Soviet soldiers insufficient.

The reaction of the Dutch authorities to the desecration of about 150 tombstones on the "Soviet Field of Glory" is insufficient and indicates connivance to the growth of neo-Nazism. This was announced on July 15 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"It's not that they didn't do enough, they contributed to this in every possible way — they demolished monuments and rewritten history with their EES community, equating Hitlerism with the Soviet regime. They believed that this would lead to the weakening of our country... So you are the vandals, these are your own vandals!" the diplomat said on Sputnik radio, commenting on the incident.

According to Zakharova, the Dutch authorities have not made any real efforts to prevent such acts of vandalism. She noted that The Hague, which regularly intervenes in the affairs of other states, ignored the massive demolition of Soviet monuments in neighboring Poland and the Czech Republic, whose actions laid the foundation for justifying radical ideas in the center of Europe.

Zakharova expressed confidence that if there is political will, the Dutch law enforcement agencies will be able to quickly identify the perpetrators. The diplomat added that total digitalization and ubiquitous surveillance cameras in European cities make it possible to uncover such offenses in the shortest possible time, citing the recent rapid detention of a suspect in the bombing case in Monaco.

On July 10, the desecration of about 150 Soviet tombstones was reported by the director of the Soviet Field of Glory, Remko Reiding. According to him, slogans appeared on the monuments, which, as the head of the organization emphasized, is "painful and sad." The next day, the foundation told Izvestia that they took the incident with deep shock, as it was an act of disrespect.

Zakharova also said at the time that the desecration of the graves of Soviet soldiers in the Netherlands was a direct consequence of the West's policy of fostering neo-Nazism in its own countries. She noted that Moscow will not forget and will not allow silence about this.
