The financier told about the actions with the salary card after her dismissal
The salary card is not blocked after dismissal, but is transferred to a standard tariff, which may result in service charges and loss of cashback. This was announced on July 15 by Tatyana Belyanchikova, Associate Professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
"A special case is credit cards and loans issued on preferential terms. After the dismissal, the rate may be revised upward," she said in an interview with the Prime agency.
Belyanchikova stressed that this clause is spelled out in the contract, but many borrowers will only find out about it after the payment is written off.
The expert also warned about three risks. Firstly, autopayments are not disabled automatically — if there are insufficient funds, the account goes into negative territory, a technical overdraft with a high rate occurs, and the credit delay is recorded in the credit history bureau. Secondly, service fees and paid services continue to be written off. Thirdly, interest on the balance ceases to accrue or becomes minimal.
The financier recommended closing the card if the service has become paid, there are no other products in the bank, or a new card has been opened. You should keep your card if the service is free, you plan to use other bank services, or you need a replacement card.
Alexander Khaminsky, head of the Law Enforcement Center in Moscow and the Moscow Region, said on July 14 that money transfers from card to card may entail legal risks and checks by regulatory authorities for both the sender and recipient. The expert noted that the fact of payment itself is not an automatic violation of the law, however, the payer may be required to confirm the legitimate purpose of the transaction.
