In Yelets, a pensioner handed over 2 million rubles to fraudsters

In Yelets, Lipetsk region, another victim of fraud was a 73-year-old pensioner. The woman handed over more than 2 million rubles to the courier of the scammers, the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the city reported on Tuesday, July 14.

According to a local resident, she initially received a call about the need to replace the meters. During the conversation, the unknown man asked her to dictate the code from the SMS message and ended the conversation.

After that, the woman received a call and was informed about the hacking of her bank account. Following the instructions of the scammers, the frightened pensioner withdrew her savings, packed them in a bag and handed them over, allegedly for temporary storage, to a courier sent by the "saviors," writes GOROD48.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud on an especially large scale."
