The participation of Ukrainian servicemen in Bastille Day celebrations in France does not correspond to the values of the French army. This opinion was expressed to Izvestia on July 14 by a geopolitical analyst, the leader of the International Alliance of Patriots, Thierry Andre Laurent-Pelle.

"Macron invites all these people to present himself as the head of a huge army that should unite the armies of all the member states of the European Union. But there is a problem here. He invites Ukrainians who, firstly, are not part of Europe and, secondly, contradict the values that our army embodies," the expert said.

Laurent-Pelle noted that July 14 is an important historical date for France, and the participation of foreign representatives in national events, in his opinion, raises questions. At the same time, he called the presence of the Ukrainian military particularly controversial.

The analyst also criticized the French president's foreign policy. According to him, the French leader strives to demonstrate the image of a strong player in the international arena.

In France, Bastille Day celebrations were held on the same day. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine participated in the parade this year. Social media users criticized the decision and said that the national holiday had turned into a political event.

On the same day, Florian Philippot, leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, harshly criticized the participation of Ukrainian soldiers in the Bastille Day parade. He noted that the leadership gathered at the parade wants to "unleash a war" and "shed blood." The politician also called the events disgusting.
