Valery Novoselov, a geriatrician, neurologist and head of the Department of Gerontology at Moscow State University, told how to find out your biological and mental age.

In conversation with aif.ru On Tuesday, July 14, the specialist noted that the passport age does not always reflect the real state of the body, but it is also impossible to say that people have begun to stay young longer. The expert noted that the main biological stages — puberty and the onset of menopause — have hardly changed in recent decades. In his opinion, modern man only looks younger due to nutrition and physical activity.

The expert called the body and brain functions the main indicator of biological and mental age. According to him, if a person thinks and reacts faster, maintains high efficiency, and internal organs function better, it means that his biological age is lower. It is the speed of the brain and body, and not the numbers in the passport or the test results that most accurately reflect the real age of a person.

Novoselov added that a healthy lifestyle, moderate nutrition and avoiding excessive exercise help improve these indicators, but they do not negate natural aging.

On July 13, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko proposed raising the age of youth to 40.

On July 10, doctor Anna Kosenkova, in an interview with the Moscow City News agency, warned that summer colds can increase the biological age and accelerate the aging of the body. According to the doctor, rhinoviruses, adenoviruses and enteroviruses are most often caused by summer colds.

In June, Amir Khan, a general practitioner, said that it is possible to determine how long a person will live by the volume of their hips. In his opinion, people with narrow hips have a significantly higher risk of heart disease and premature death, notes 360.ru .

At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the launch of a comprehensive health diagnostics project. According to him, high-quality sports complexes and playgrounds with exercise equipment are being installed in the city, projects "Moscow Longevity" and "My Polyclinic" are being implemented, and public transport is being replaced with environmentally friendly transport.

In April, doctor Alexey Moskalev said that in Russia, anyone can identify the risks of early aging at the centers of healthy longevity medicine from the age of 18. According to him, the examination is carried out in several stages, including a questionnaire and determination of a person's biological age, the appointment of additional tests and studies based on the identified risk factors, RT reports.
