The Federal Antimonopoly Service sent letters to the networks about limiting the mark-up on school supplies

The Federal Antimonopoly Service has sent letters to 18 retail chains with a proposal to limit prices and margins on school supplies on the eve of the new school year. This was reported on the agency's website on July 14.

"The supply is due to the seasonal demand for them during the preparation of children for the new school year. The agency reminded sellers of the need for fair market behavior during a period of high demand and suggested that they limit prices and margins for the most sought—after items of school assortment goods if they are sold in chain stores," the report says.

The letters were sent to 18 organizations, including Detsky Mir, Chit Gorod, Leonardo, Magnit, Auchan, Lenta, Vkusvill, M.Video, Citylink and others. Since 2023, at the suggestion of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Detsky Mir, Komus, M.Video, Citylink and DNS have already made voluntary commitments to limit margins, which has increased the affordability of goods for families with children.

On April 6, the Federal Antimonopoly Service sent requests to retail chains about pricing for chicken eggs and milk. Thus, the agency requested data on the weekly and monthly dynamics of the weighted average purchase and retail prices for these products. When violations were detected, it was planned to take appropriate response measures.
