China has started using smart cooling technologies in residential areas

A number of Chinese provinces have begun to introduce high-tech methods to combat abnormally high temperatures. This was reported on July 14 by the Xinhua News Agency.

So, in Yuncheng, Shanxi province in northern China, the air temperature rose above 37 degrees. An "artificial rain" system was launched on the roofs of houses in one of the residential complexes.

According to the developer of the residential complex, approximately 200 high-pressure injectors per building were installed on the roofs of seven high-rise buildings. They spray water in the form of a fine mist. One spray cycle lasts about 10 minutes. When microdrops evaporate, they absorb heat from the surrounding air, and the temperature in the area of the complex drops.

According to an employee of the management company of this complex, residents do not need to pay extra, because all related costs are already included in the maintenance fee for the house territory. In addition to cooling, such misty moisture helps to nail urban dust and smog to the ground, while humidifying the air and irrigating green spaces.

In another Chinese city, Chongqing, the Cooling Platforms project was launched: air conditioners are now installed at some bus stops to help overcome the effects of abnormal heat outside. After pressing the button, a cooling mist appears, which instantly reduces the temperature in the waiting area by three to eight degrees.

In the metro of the city, in turn, you can choose cars with a temperature option — with strong cooling, the temperature is set at 25 degrees, and in cars with weak cooling — at 27 degrees.

"In the central business center of Chongqing, Jiangbeizui, where the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialingjiang rivers is located, the "water-cooled air conditioners" system takes water from the rivers to remove heat from the room. Heat exchange occurs without loss of energy resources and environmental pollution, which allows the entire Jiangbeizui region to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 60 thousand tons per year," the Xinhua article says.

On July 13, it was reported that at least 10,000 people died in Europe due to the extreme heat that covered the western part of the continent at the end of June. It is noted that the heat disrupted the electricity supply, led to the closure of schools and broke temperature records.
