The Economist reported on Fedorov's attempt to get Syrsky's resignation.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mikhail Fedorov, sought the resignation of the commander-in-chief of the country's Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, but his attempts were unsuccessful. This was reported on July 13 by The Economist magazine.
"His (Fedorov's. — Ed.) deep disagreements with more traditionalist-minded <...> the leaders, especially with Commander—in-chief Alexander Syrsky, rarely went unnoticed," follows from the text of the publication.
According to the newspaper, the minister sought to dismiss the general, but was unable to enlist the support of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and found no other way to remove him from office.
Zelensky announced on July 12 that he plans to change the composition of the entire government of Ukraine and dismiss Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. He cited the country's preparations for the new winter and agreements with Kiev's allies on reconstruction as the reasons for the personnel changes. Sviridenko herself confirmed that she was leaving the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine. She has been working in this position since July 17, 2025.
