Russia and China have completed the joint exercise "Maritime Interaction – 2026"
Ships of the Russian Navy and the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China have completed the joint exercise "Maritime Interaction - 2026" in the Yellow Sea and began patrolling in the waters of the Asia-Pacific region. This was announced on July 14 by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.
The solemn closing ceremony of the exercise took place at the Qingdao Naval base of the PLA. The commanders of the ships of the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy, as well as officers of the joint leadership staff, were addressed by the leaders of the exercise of the two countries, Rear Admiral Sergei Sinko and Rear Admiral Qiu Wensheng.
According to Sinko, the acquired experience will be in demand in the future naval activities of our countries and will become an important contribution to strengthening mutual trust and Russian-Chinese cooperation.
After the ceremony, some of the ships sailed to the Yellow Sea, where a joint Russian-Chinese detachment was formed, which began patrolling the waters of the Asia-Pacific region.
It is specified that the first joint Russian-Chinese naval patrol of surface ships in the Asia-Pacific region took place in 2021. Since then, such events have been held annually, and in 2025, for the first time, submarines from the two countries took part in them.
The press service of the Pacific Fleet reported on July 5 that a detachment of ships of the Russian Navy from the Pacific Fleet arrived at the Qingdao base in China to participate in the joint Russian-Chinese exercises "Maritime Interaction - 2026". The exercise "Maritime Interaction – 2026" began on July 6. During the maneuvers, the crews of the joint detachment practiced repelling attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned boats, fired artillery and machine-gun systems, and used electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
