On July 13, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic cooperation with Foreign countries, positively assessed the US intention to take action against the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Earlier, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on the social network X that the United States plans to limit the activities of the ICC. According to the Secretary of State, the court staff claims to have virtually unlimited powers.

"It is pleasant to realize that the United States opposes the extraterritorial application of law and the imposition of its will on others, declaring war on the global criminal court — the criminal globalist International Criminal Court," Dmitriev wrote on Twitter.

Dmitriev noted that he considers Washington's position to be directed against the extraterritorial application of law and attempts to impose decisions on other states.

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Galant on November 21, 2024. The court ruled that the two politicians were responsible for war crimes against the civilian population. The United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Estonia expressed their willingness to comply with this court decision, while the United States and France opposed it.

On January 10, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill to impose sanctions against the International Criminal Court in the event of its proceedings against the United States and its allies. It was clarified that the project was supported by 243 members of the lower house of Congress, 140 opposed.

The financial sanctions imposed on the ICC by US President Donald Trump became known on February 7, 2025. According to Trump, the actions of this court are "an encroachment on the sovereignty of the United States" and "undermine the government's most important work in the field of national security and foreign policy." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for this decision.
