German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on July 13 that Russia would not participate in the development of security guarantee mechanisms for Ukraine.

"Exactly how these security guarantees will be formalized will be decided by Ukraine and its partners, not Moscow," he said at a press conference following a meeting of the coalition of the willing.

Merz noted that the coalition members confirmed their readiness to continue working to ensure Ukraine's security after the ceasefire. In their opinion, in order to achieve sustainable peace, a reliable control mechanism, security guarantees and the preservation of Kiev's defense potential are necessary.

The press service of the Russian Embassy in Germany reported on July 13 that Germany and the leadership of the European Union are committed to intensifying confrontation with Russia, while Berlin's calls for militarization and preparations for war contradict the interests of residents of Germany and other European states. The embassy stressed that such a course poses a serious danger and does not meet the interests of residents of Germany and other European countries.
