The West disrupted the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, which was possible soon after it began. This was announced on July 13 by Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar.

"The agreement was close, but it was disrupted by Western countries when the then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Western countries would not support this agreement," he said in an interview with the Slovak newspaper Štandard.

According to Blanar, at that time, the parties reached agreements in negotiations that began in Minsk and ended in Turkey. Since then, the Slovak Foreign Minister noted, the whole process has become more complicated, and it will be "very difficult" to find an agreement.

"The situation has already reached the point where it is necessary to reach an agreement that will not satisfy either side," the message says.

Blanard suggested that Ukraine would have to make concessions, including in the "territorial plan."

On July 13, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called for the start of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, calling the current moment suitable for dialogue. According to him, European countries, with the support of the European Union and the United States, are open to the negotiation process.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on July 9 that Russia would no longer believe the West in its desire for negotiations on Ukraine. According to the minister, Western countries, instead of a real dialogue on the Ukrainian crisis, have switched to open ultimatums addressed to Moscow. He stressed that the negotiated solutions reached in 2014, 2015 and 2019 with the participation of Western mediators had not been respected.
