Direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul may resume before the end of summer if the Turkish side succeeds in convincing Kiev. This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, on Monday, July 13.

According to the senator, Moscow is ready for dialogue, but its outcome depends on Ukraine's position.

"We can only welcome it if Ankara plans to participate in organizing such negotiations," the politician said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

Jabarov noted that it is fundamentally important whether we are talking about a complete cessation of hostilities or only a temporary truce.

"If these negotiations are really about signing some kind of peace agreement, that's one thing. If we are talking about a truce, which Ukraine needs in order to regroup its forces, replenish losses and stocks of weapons and missiles, then this is completely different. We won't do that," he warned.

Earlier in the day, it became known that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is negotiating with the leaders of Western countries, seeking to resume negotiations on Ukraine, RT reports.

It was clarified that Turkey maintains diplomatic cooperation with the parties concerned and calls for the rapid return of Russia and Ukraine to direct dialogue, according to the website. kp.ru .

On July 12, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced plans to visit Ukraine to discuss prospects for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

On July 8, Erdogan said that Turkey was once again ready to bring the parties to the conflict in Ukraine together at the negotiating table and would continue to make efforts for a diplomatic settlement. Life.Ru . He also noted that Turkey has been advocating diplomatic means to resolve differences between the parties since the beginning of the conflict.
