An employee can get sick leave without being sick if they need to take care of a sick child. This was announced on July 12 by Alexander Yuzhalin, head of the legal practice at SuperJob.

He noted that medical organizations most often issue a disability certificate (or sick leave) in case of injury or illness of the employee himself. At the same time, there is one deviation from the rule.

"But there is an exception: an employee takes sick leave not in connection with his illness, but in connection with the illness or injury of a child (or other family member) who needs to be cared for. In this case, you can formally apply for sick leave if the employee himself is not ill," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Thus, the sick leave is not issued exclusively for caring for a child in need of help. It can also be obtained if you need to look after other relatives, such as your spouse, parents, or grandmother.

Irina Kotlyarova, the head of one of the recruitment companies in Primorsky Krai, said on July 8 that an employer can ask an employee to come to work when he is on vacation, but he can refuse without explaining the reasons. She explained that the reason may be different circumstances — for example, the need for work or the replacement of an employee who went on sick leave.

On July 6, deputies of the Liberal Democratic Party submitted to the State Duma a bill providing for a shorter working week for employees raising children under 18 without reducing wages.
