The dog handler named the main mistakes when traveling with a pet in the summer
A summer vacation with a dog should be carefully thought out, it should not be spontaneous, so that the rest is not spoiled. This was announced by the President of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, on Friday, July 10.
"Mistakes begin where owners let things take their course: they forget about veterinary nuances, hope for a chance, neglect basic safety measures," he said in an interview with Radio 1.
The expert explained that to travel with a dog, you must have a VET passport with vaccination marks. Rabies vaccination is especially important. For trips abroad, you may also need chipingand additional certificates, which sometimes take months to prepare.
It is also necessary to start preparing the dog in advance for travel and transport. If your pet is waiting for a train or plane ride, at least you need to get him used to carrying.
Golubev emphasized that a dog should never be left alone in the car — even in acceptably warm weather under the sun, the car can heat up to critical values quite quickly.
In addition, the pet should be chipped and an addressee tag should be placed on the collar in case the pet gets lost.
The dog handler warned that the new diet could lead to disruptions in the digestive tract. Therefore, he advised to always stock up on food and bottled water during the trip.
A dog handler said on July 7 that sudden temperature changes from an air conditioner can create a dangerous strain on the dog's cardiovascular system, the Moscow City News agency reports.
Earlier, on July 3, Golubev told how to protect the paws of dogs from the hot asphalt in the heat. The expert warned that in hot weather, hot asphalt is dangerous for dogs, just as walking barefoot on a hot surface is dangerous for humans.
In turn, cynologist and veterinarian Vladimir Urazhevsky said that when vaccinating animals in the clinic, it is better to choose a domestic vaccine.
