The court partially closed the trial in the case of the attack on Izvestia journalists

The Ostankino District Court of Moscow has partially closed the trial in the case of an attack on a film crew of the Izvestia News Center during coach Yulia Ivlieva's training. This was reported on July 10 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

During the hearing, the court began questioning the injured journalists of the film crew, which included correspondent Ivan Litomin. The defendants Arsen Sharuda, Oleg Pavlyukevich, Sergey Rogozin and Oleg Koplakov are in the dock. They were charged under Part 3 of Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Obstruction of the legitimate professional activities of journalists with the use of violence or threat of its use"). Currently, three defendants are under house arrest, and another has been given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave.

In addition, on July 8, the court of the capital extended the house arrest of Sharuda, Pavlyukevich and Rogozin until December 26. The prosecutor, justifying the petition, stated that if a milder measure of restraint was chosen, the accused could abscond or influence the judicial investigation.

The perpetrator faces imprisonment for obstructing the work of the media.

Last December, the Izvestia film crew was attacked by security guards at the training of coach Yulia Ivlieva, who calls herself a psychologist. At the same time, the attack on media employees occurred after their questions about Ivlieva's education and income. Litomina was punched several times in the face, handcuffed and unlawfully detained. A criminal case was opened into the incident.
