Over 90% of Russian citizens are interested in healthy eating, while only 17% adhere to it. This was announced on July 10 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at the Russia and the World: Healthy Longevity Trends forum.

"Look at the latest VTsIOM survey, which was published literally on June 4, 2026. 92% [of Russians] are interested in healthy eating, and only 17% eat right, and 53% cannot overcome their habits," she said.

According to Golikova, another 58% of Russians still strive to overcome their established attitude to food, but they fail to do so. Against this background, she called for talking to people "not about diets, but about the biochemistry of nutrition," and actively developing individual programs for them.

Now, as the Russian Deputy Prime Minister explained, the government is striving to involve manufacturers and sellers of products to increase the useful assortment on the domestic market. She stressed that the relevant work will be continued jointly with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, told Izvestia a day earlier at the same forum that the introduction of the Traffic Light system in the country would allow the buyer to monitor the excess of possible harmful ingredients in a particular product. The consumer, as she explained, can easily get information about the sugar, salt and fat content by scanning the corresponding designation on the product.
