- Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences named the most common diseases in the future
In a few years, the most common diseases in humans will be diseases related to the brain. Mikhail Piradov, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and director of the Russian Center for Neurology and Neuroscience, told about this on July 10.
Speaking at the forum "Russia and the World: trends in healthy longevity," he noted that much attention is already being paid to this area in the articles of scientists.
"Brain diseases will take the first place among all human diseases in just a few years. And that's why now every tenth article in the world is written in scientific journals about research in neuroscience," RIA Novosti quotes the specialist as saying.
Piradov clarified that up to 45% of all cases associated with brain damage are reversible if they are treated at an early stage.
On July 9, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko noted that the brain is a key organ that affects human life expectancy, because its activity affects not only the nervous system. The Minister also noted that lifestyle remains one of the main factors determining health and life expectancy.
In June, scientists reported that human cognitive function and mental acuity can increase at any age, including in people over the age of 90, provided they carry out short daily brain training.
