Thunderstorms, hail and heavy rain are expected in Moscow and the Moscow region on July 10, which will be accompanied by squally winds of up to 20 m per second. In such conditions, the main danger is not so much the rain itself as flying debris, falling trees, lightning and the risk of flooding. Natalia Tarasova, Managing Director of Life Insurance at Sberbank, told Izvestia how to minimize risks and avoid being trapped by bad weather.

According to the expert, such weather deterioration promised by forecasters usually occurs when warm and humid air rises. There it gradually cools, and the moisture contained in it condenses and turns into water droplets. In summer, the sun heats the earth's surface especially strongly, thereby increasing the updrafts. If the approach of an atmospheric front is added to the heat and high humidity, thunderstorm clouds can form very quickly.

Tarasova urged to stay indoors during bad weather if possible. It requires closing the windows and removing light objects from the balconies that can be blown away by the wind. If you have to stay outside, you should not hide under trees, advertising structures, or power lines, as this can be dangerous.

"Try not to use elevators during severe thunderstorms and avoid open spaces. Do not cross flooded sections of road, as there may be holes or open hatches under the water. If you are driving, slow down, increase the distance, turn on the low beam and avoid sudden maneuvers if possible," the specialist advised.

Pedestrians, she said, should choose shoes with non-slip soles and be especially careful when crossing the roadway. They are also advised to charge their mobile devices in advance and have a flashlight with them in case of power outages.
Tarasova pointed out the importance of monitoring weather forecast updates and warnings from emergency services, as this would allow for timely response to a possible change in the situation.

"If possible, postpone trips and important things until the weather conditions improve. If you find yourself outside during a strong wind or downpour, try to find the nearest safe shelter in a major building. In an emergency, call the single numbers 112 and 101," she added.

Having insurance coverage, as the managing director explained, is also a great help in an unpredictable situation. If an insured event, injury or illness has occurred with a citizen, according to Tarasova, he should definitely take sick leave. After that, submit an online application for payment. At the same time, if the injured person is a borrower of a bank loan, the funds will be credited to the account within just five minutes. If you have a mortgage loan, the insurance company can repay it within five days.

According to the analysis of the Yandex Weather service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on the same day, rains are expected in the capital over the coming weekend — July 11 and 12. It was noted that the weather would be cloudy outside, and the air temperature would remain in the range from +19 to +25 degrees. The situation will be similar in the Moscow region.
