New public space to be created in Mnevnikovskaya floodplain

A pedestrian promenade with a length of about 2 km will appear in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in the Maks messenger.

The boardwalk will stretch from house 37C17 to house 45c1 on Nizhni Mnevniki St. Seven recreation areas with viewing platforms and architectural and artistic lighting will be set up on a wooden deck above the water. A playground and a large observation deck will be installed on the upper street level. The space will also be landscaped and decorated with sculptures, and a dry stream will run to the river. The work will be completed this fall, the mayor stressed.

In addition, two more embankments are planned to be built in the area, the head of the capital recalled. In the west of the floodplain, the embankment will run from house No. 37A on Nizhni Mnevniki Street to the beach, south of the Krylatsky Bridge. In the eastern part, the embankment will run from the intersection of Nizhni Mnevniki Street with the Projected passage No. 1166 to the currently under construction "sail bridge" in the alignment of Novozavodskaya Street.

Since 2011, the Moscow River embankments, which are about 110 km long, have been put in order in the capital. Earlier, Sobyanin announced the creation of a landscape park on the Taras Shevchenko Embankment. Recreation areas, children's and sports grounds will be set up on the territory of the park. There will also be running tracks and walking paths on the site, as well as an amphitheater.
