Patrushev noted the high efficiency of the Russian fleet

The modern Russian fleet shows high efficiency. This was stated on July 10 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at an off-site meeting of the Fishing Vessels Incident.

St. Petersburg is traditionally considered the center of Russian shipbuilding, with the largest Russian shipyards concentrated here. Patrushev, as part of a working trip to the region, held a meeting on the Incident "Fishing vessels" on July 10. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rosrybolovstvo, other interested departments and the industry business community discussed topical issues of building a fishing fleet within the framework of the investment quota mechanism.

"First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who connected their lives with the Russian fisheries complex on the upcoming Fisherman's Day. It's hard work on ships and ashore, but its results make a huge contribution to our food security. And we will talk, as always, about the progress of the construction of the fishing fleet within the framework of the investment quota mechanism. 56 vessels have been built during the program period. Another 66 projects are under implementation. According to the plan, the shipyards are to transfer 10 vessels to customers in 2026. We examined some of the already built facilities before the meeting. The modern Russian fleet is highly efficient. The vessels are designed taking into account the specifics of the fishery, have high technical characteristics, are more comfortable and safer. Therefore, we will definitely continue the work on upgrading production facilities systematically. In addition, today we will talk about the construction of a scientific fleet. In particular, these are two vessels for studying stocks of aquatic biological resources, as well as the vessel Ivan Frolov, designed to solve the tasks of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service. I would like to note that this is one of the largest ice class projects not only in Russia, but also in the world. The government has provided about 40 billion rubles for its implementation," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

During his working trip to the region, Patrushev, together with the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, visited the Severnaya Verf Shipyard, where they got acquainted with the construction of the Marlin freezer longline processor and the Captain Geller processor trawler. The fishing vessel "Marlin" will catch cod, haddock, catfish and other bottom rocks. It will be able to produce up to 25 tons of fish. It will also be used to produce frozen fish, fillets, canned liver and cod roe. A modern fish processing factory with a capacity of up to 150 tons of frozen fish and canned food per day will be located on board the Captain Geller vessel. The vessel is designed taking into account modern environmental standards and will extract cod, haddock and other types of fish.

Patrushev and the head of the region, Alexander Drozdenko, also assessed the pace of construction of the Captain Golovatyuk fishing vessel at the Otradnoye shipyard in the Leningrad Region. It is intended for longline fishing and processing of catch on board, followed by freezing and storage in a refrigerated hold. The vessel will operate in the Far Eastern basin and fish for Pacific cod, halibut and macrurus. The longline fish processing equipment will allow deep processing of catches directly on board.

Incident No. 42 "Fishing vessels" was created to coordinate the completion of the construction of fishing vessels as part of the implementation of the mechanism for granting quotas for the extraction (catch) of aquatic biological resources for investment purposes. When working in the incident format, a special project management system is used, which is deployed on the basis of the Government Coordination Center. It allows you to quickly coordinate the actions of the participants and monitor the implementation of projects in real time.

The country will catch approximately 4.7 million tons of products in 2025, most of all — pollock, herring and Far Eastern salmon.

Patrushev added on April 8 that Russia's self-sufficiency in fish products in 2025 reached 123%. The Deputy Prime Minister defined the vector of development of the Russian fisheries complex. The participants discussed the results of the complex's work in 2025 and identified priorities for 2026. The Russian fishing industry has demonstrated stable results and is one of the top five countries in terms of production of aquatic biological resources.
