The court hearing on the resumption of the criminal case of blogger Valeria Chekalina (known under the pseudonym Lercek) did not take place, the hearing was postponed to Monday, July 13. This was reported on July 10 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The defendant herself did not appear in court to resume the proceedings of her case, as she is undergoing medical treatment, her lawyer commented to Izvestia.

"She's sick," the lawyer briefly replied to a question about whether the defendant would personally come to court.

At the hearing on Friday, the issue of the blogger's withdrawal of more than 250 million rubles to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was to be considered.

On the same day, RIA Novosti reported that Lercek was being treated at the Blokhin National Research Medical Center of Oncology and would not be able to attend the court hearing, where her criminal case was scheduled to resume. The court should also have considered changing Chekalina's place of residence, since the lease period for the house, the address of which she indicated when choosing a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions, expired.

Chekalina's criminal case on the withdrawal of more than 250 million rubles to the UAE under forged documents was transferred to another judge on June 19. Prior to that, the prosecutor's office applied to the metropolitan court with a request to conduct a second forensic medical examination of Lerchek. According to him, the reason for the appeal was publications on social networks in which the blogger demonstrated active sports during the days of undergoing chemotherapy.
