The expert explained the risks of buying cheap goods online
The attractive cost of goods on the marketplace does not always reflect real savings for the buyer, Roman Kilyakov, an entrepreneur and expert in the field of e-commerce, told Izvestia on July 12.
According to Kilyakov, the manufacturer's savings on materials may be hidden behind the low price. For example, the label of a T-shirt says "95% cotton, 5% lycra", whereas in reality the proportion of natural fiber is significantly lower.
"An experienced buyer is able to suspect substitution based on indirect signs, for example, by the synthetic gloss on the inside of the product or by the structure of the fiber weave. However, not everyone is able to recognize such a trick, which means they risk buying something that will last much less than expected," said Kilyakov.
He also emphasized the role of marketing mechanics: cashback, subscriptions, "limited balances" and free shipping create the illusion of a bargain. At the same time, the commissions of marketplaces (for example, Wildberries and Ozon) can reach 65% of the sale price, which sellers include in the price of the product.
According to the expert, special attention should be paid to the conditions of return. If a defect is detected after fitting, it is extremely difficult to return the product: the employee of the pick-up point may refuse to accept, and the seller rejects the application. As a result, the buyer is left with low-quality goods and no refund, Kilyakov added.
The expert recommends that you carefully check the composition of materials, compare prices at different sites and take into account the return conditions so that the low price does not result in additional expenses.
According to another study conducted by the service, "I will choose.<url>" May 5, almost 40% of Russians are proud of their ability to save money and consider thrift an important part of their personal financial strategy. It was clarified that 41% of respondents directly associate the level of income with a sense of personal success, another 34% consider it an important, but not the main factor. At the same time, 25% of respondents stated that they do not perceive earnings as an indicator of their own value.
