Military personnel of the Northern Fleet's unmanned systems units have been trained in the use of the Yelka interceptor drone equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced on July 10 by the press service of the Northern Fleet.

It is noted that for two days, industry representatives conducted theoretical and practical training sessions for military personnel on the effective use of an interceptor drone designed to destroy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of multi-rotor and aircraft types.

"During the training, the personnel received the necessary theoretical knowledge and experience in the effective use of this drone. Due to the X-shaped arrangement of the wings with electric propeller motors and an aerodynamic rudder mounted on them, the drone is very maneuverable and is able to catch up with an enemy drone in the air. The fir tree has shown its high efficiency in solving the tasks of a special military operation," said a soldier with the call sign Yenisei.

The North Sea crew mastered the control of the interceptor, studied the tactics of its use, both as part of their units and as separate calculations at air surveillance posts.

It is noted that the "Fir Tree" does not have a warhead, the defeat is achieved due to kinetic energy during a direct impact. Equipped with four powerful engines, the Yelka is capable of high speed, which allows it to deliver devastating strikes against enemy drones.

It is known that the event took place in the branch of the Patriot Park of the Northern Fleet in the Murmansk region. These training sessions on the use of UAV interceptors are held in the Northern Fleet on an ongoing basis.

The press service of the Pacific Fleet reported on July 9 that the coastal stage of the Russian-Chinese naval exercise "Maritime Interaction - 2026" took place in the port of Qingdao in the People's Republic of China (PRC). During the event, ship commanders and staff officers conducted the planning of the naval phase of the exercise on maps, and the crews of the Russian Navy and the Naval Forces of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) exchanged experiences.
