Representative of the Mother Armenia Party Manukyan was arrested for two months.

A court in Yerevan has arrested Areknaz Manukyan, an associate of the leader of the opposition Mother Armenia party Andranik Tevanyan. This was reported on July 9 by Sputnik Armenia with reference to her lawyer.

Manukyan is accused of disclosing information containing state secrets. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of two months. Lawyer Tirayr Karapetyan stated that he intends to appeal the court's decision.

Manukyan was detained in Armenia on the same day. The arrest was carried out as part of criminal proceedings.

Agency NEWS.am On July 4, we learned that the Armenian opposition had begun a new, "larger-scale and systematic" stage of political resistance. A few days earlier, on June 30, the head of the Strong Armenia bloc, Samvel Karapetyan, said that the opposition had a plan to overthrow the current Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.

On July 9, the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia decided to extend the preventive measure in the form of house arrest against Karapetyan for another two months. The court decided to keep the measure of restraint until September 18. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 4.
