Sales of the German carmaker Porsche fell for the first time in six years

Sales of Porsche AG sports cars, manufactured by the famous German automaker, showed a sharp drop for the first time in the last six years. The number of vehicles sold in the first half of 2026 decreased by 16% immediately, Bloomberg reported on July 9.

The main markets declined the most: in North America, customer interest decreased by 13%, and in China — by 32% at once. The total volume of Porsche AG vehicles sold from January to June of this year amounted to 122,306 units, which is the manufacturer's worst result since 2020.

Analyzing the results, the company identified three reasons for poor performance. The first was associated with the end of the production of the 718 gasoline model. The second was called the high-base effect: a year earlier, buyers showed great interest in the Porsche Macan electric crossover. The third reason was the termination of tax breaks for owners of hybrids and electric vehicles in the United States.

In April, the analytical agency Autostat reported that 2.5 times more new German cars were sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2026 than in the same period last year. In total, almost 12.5 thousand brand cars from Germany were sold in January –March, compared to 4,887 units in the quarter a year earlier.
