The NSIS explained the sixfold increase in CTP policies
The number of short-term CTP policies soared 6 times in January—June of this year, to 12.8 million units. This was announced on July 9 by the press service of the National Insurance Information System (NSIS).
In six months, the share of short-term CTP policies increased to 38%, compared with only 9.5% in the same period last year. Such contracts are still in demand only by taxi cars — their share for the reporting period was 98.83%, according to the NSIS.
The total premium on short-term contracts increased 4.5 times, to 2.7 billion rubles. The average premium decreased by almost 30%, from 287 to 210 rubles. This shows the active competition of insurers for this segment of the CTP market, the NSIS notes.
The number of annual CTP policies for the first half of the year did not change and remained at the level of 21.3 million units. The total premium for annual CTP policies and the average premium increased by 5%, to 162.3 billion rubles and 7,632 thousand rubles, respectively.
The total number of CTP contracts concluded amounted to 34 million, which is almost 1.5 times higher than in the first six months of 2025.
On July 3, Evgeny Vasiliev, Director of Insurance Methodology at the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA), said that prices for car parts in the reference books used by insurers to calculate CTP repairs may be lower than market prices. This is due to the fact that the reference book takes into account non-original spare parts, which are often much cheaper than the original ones.
