The scientist predicted the update of the temperature record in 2010
In the long term, Moscow risks facing a deadly heat wave again, which will exceed the figures of 2010. This was stated on July 9 by Vladimir Klimenko, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the MEI Global Energy Problems Laboratory, in an interview with Izvestia.
"I dare to make a prediction. That murderously hot summer of 2010 — we will meet with an even hotter summer. Not this year, not next year, and not until the end of this decade. But, I believe that at the turn of the 30-40s, an even hotter summer will be recorded in Moscow," he noted.
According to the academician, due to humanity's inability to stop global warming, summer periods in the capital will continue to become more and more sultry.
The head of the French Ministry of Health, Stephanie Rist, reported on July 3 that more than 2 thousand residents died in a week in connection with the abnormal heat in the territory of the state.
Izvestia correspondent Ekaterina Pechenkina said on July 4 that Washington canceled the morning celebrations in honor of U.S. Independence Day due to the ongoing heat wave.
