In Moscow, increased control over the safety of passengers on river transport

Employees of the Moscow Administrative Traffic Inspectorate (MADI) have begun monitoring the movement of small vessels in the waters of the Moskva River. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry.

MADI specialists will patrol the waters together with the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Central Federal District and bring violators to administrative responsibility. They will be able to detain and move small vessels for storage.

As part of the work, MADI will apply modern IT solutions and use a system for photographing violations. Currently, there are more than 540 surveillance cameras installed on the river. In 2027, the network is planned to expand by another 250 devices.

"The pace of river transport development in the capital has increased significantly. In the 2025 navigation season, the vessels completed over 4.5 million trips. This is a record figure for the last 30 years. Such dynamics require increased control on the Moskva River using new formats. We are confident that by combining the capabilities and powers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Moscow government, we will be able to make the movement of water transport in the capital even safer," said Liksutov.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Moscow government signed an agreement on the implementation of joint measures to improve safety at the water facilities of the capital for a period of five years.

In total, 4 thousand small vessels are registered in the city. From 2022 to 2025, their number increased 2.5 times.
