Russians named the ideal housing format for living and recreation

Most Russians dream of choosing spacious apartments or country houses, but when choosing real housing, they often prefer urban real estate due to convenience, infrastructure and transport accessibility. This was reported to Izvestia on July 11 by analysts of Granel Group of Companies.

According to the survey, the most attractive option for Russians remains a spacious apartment with a larger area, even if it is located further from the city center. This format was chosen by 34% of the study participants. Another 21% would like to permanently live in their own house, and 9% consider suburban real estate as a place to relax.

At the same time, 70% of those who want to completely move out of the city are men, while women are more likely to choose urban life. 15% of respondents named a small apartment in the city center as an ideal option.

However, in the practical choice of housing, preferences have changed. A spacious apartment outside the center again took the first place — it was chosen by 35% of the survey participants. Another 29% would stay in a studio apartment in the city.

When will the mechanism be adjusted and what risks do such schemes pose for citizens?

The house is about 80 sq. m. Only 20% of respondents chose an apartment outside the city for permanent residence, while 16% chose a combination of an urban studio and a seasonal cottage.

"The study shows that Russians still romanticize suburban life, but when making a real decision, practical factors come to the fore: transport accessibility, proximity to work, well—developed infrastructure and daily comfort," said Victoria Korchinskaya, Director of the Analytics Department at Granel Group.

According to the expert, as a result, 80% of Russians in real life would choose a city apartment, while suburban housing remains preferable for 20% of respondents. At the same time, every fifth participant in the study dreams of combining two formats — a small apartment in the city for everyday life and a second home outside the city for recreation.

On June 2, the leader of the Fair Russia party and the head of the Duma faction, Sergei Mironov, proposed amendments to the Housing Code of the Russian Federation so that residents of apartment buildings could pay for heating solely according to individual meter readings, regardless of the decisions of general meetings of owners and authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
