The bodies of a man and a child who disappeared while rafting on the Irkut River on July 3 in the Shelekhovsky district have been found in the Irkutsk region. This was reported on July 9 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the region.
"The bodies of a four-year-old child and one of the men who drowned on July 3 were found in the Irkut River <...>. UK investigators are working at the scene," TASS reports.
It is noted that the relatives of the victims have already been identified.
The father of the missing boy reported on July 3 that his son had been swept away by a strong current. He clarified that the child was rafting on the Irkut River with his mother and older brother. The incident occurred between the villages of Shamanka and Vvedenshchina. On the same day, two participants of the rafting began searching for the child, men aged 42 and 45, but after going to rescue the missing man, they also disappeared.
On July 6, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region reported that a 41-year-old individual entrepreneur who organized rafting on the river was charged with a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence").
The organizers stated that 49 rafting participants were registered, but 182 people participated in the event. At the same time, the group was not registered with the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
