Kiev refused to admit its involvement in the bombing of the Nord Streams

Ukraine has refused to admit its involvement in the bombing of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines. This was confirmed on July 9 by a document published on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the country.

"Ukraine's involvement in the bombing of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 has not been established," the statement said.

It also notes that the investigation of all the circumstances "has not yet been completed and the collection of necessary evidence and their research is continuing." The Ukrainian side, as emphasized, is now continuing to cooperate with the relevant German authorities and is carrying out a number of procedural procedures at their request.

"As part of these criminal proceedings, a request will be sent to the relevant German authorities to establish a joint investigation team for the purpose of rapid information exchange," the statement said.

The sabotage on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines was carried out on September 26, 2022 at an 80-meter depth in the international waters of the Baltic Sea. At the time of the accident, gas was not transported through them.

The United States is also showing interest in pipelines.

On July 2, the German Prosecutor General's Office confirmed the charges brought against a Ukrainian citizen named Sergei K. in the Nord Stream case the day before. It was noted that in 2022, this man, being an officer of the Armed Forces of his country, together with his colleagues participated in the development of a plan to blow up gas pipelines. The operation, according to investigators, was carried out to deprive Russia of income from natural gas exports.

On the same day, the co-chairman of the German Alternative for Germany party, Tino Cavalla, called on Berlin to stop providing military support to Kiev amid the findings of this sabotage. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later also recommended that the situation be taken into account when deciding on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
