Trump denied claims of interference in Machado's plans to visit Venezuela

American leader Donald Trump has denied media claims that his administration interfered with the plans of Venezuelan opposition politician Maria Corina Machado to visit the country after a series of earthquakes. This became known on July 9th.

"I didn't tell anyone anything," RIA Novosti quoted Trump as saying.

He also noted that he has no reason to treat Machado badly, since she gave him the Nobel Prize.

The Axios portal, citing sources, reported on July 1 that Machado's attempts to return to Venezuela after the recent earthquakes had irritated the Trump administration.

The Washington Post reported on January 29 that Machado's return to the country poses a risk to the White House's efforts to stabilize the situation in Venezuela and create conditions for attracting investments from American oil companies. It was clarified that her arrival could provoke protests and clashes in the streets, which contradicts the policy of economic normalization that the Trump administration is trying to implement.
