The FSB prevented a terrorist attack against a senior military official of the Ministry of Defense

The Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted an attempt by the special services of Ukraine, led by Western curators, to carry out a series of sabotage and terrorist attacks using drones on military infrastructure facilities, one of the leading enterprises of the military-industrial complex, as well as against military personnel of the Russian Defense Ministry. This was reported on July 9 by the FSB Public Relations Center.

"As a result of the events, a citizen of the Russian Federation, born in 2001, who was detained in 2024 via WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation. She was recruited by the special services of Ukraine to conduct intelligence and establish the location of enemy terrorist targets in the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg," the statement said.

It is noted that during the involvement of the girl in criminal activities, the Ukrainian curator imitated a romantic relationship with her. After completing all the assignments, he promised her to continue communication on the territory of Ukraine.

Fulfilling the tasks of the curator, in March 2026, the malefactor rented an apartment in Moscow, where she installed video cameras to monitor the car and the residence of a Russian serviceman. The broadcast of the signal from the cameras was transmitted to Ukraine. In addition, the accomplice personally observed the officer and informed the supervisor about the addresses of the target of the terrorist attack and the location of surveillance cameras in that area.

It was assumed that the direct perpetrator of the terrorist act would live in the rented apartment. Disguises and food items were prepared for him there. According to the plans of the attackers, he was supposed to return to Ukraine in transit through Turkey and Moldova after committing the crime.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers seized surveillance equipment, disguise props, as well as smartphones containing correspondence with an employee of the Ukrainian special services.

"The defendant has admitted her guilt and is cooperating with the investigation. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 2 of Article 205 ("Preparation for a terrorist act") 275 ("High treason") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the FSB said.

Currently, she has been given a preventive measure in the form of detention. According to these articles, she faces punishment up to life imprisonment.

"The FSB of Russia draws the attention of citizens to the fact that the Ukrainian special services use rented housing to prepare and commit terrorist acts on the territory of Russia," the department warned.

On June 22, FSB officers also prevented the bombing of a railway train and detained two people for organizing a terrorist attack in the Moscow region. The defendants conducted a reconnaissance of the railway section in advance and chose a place to plant an explosive device and then detonate it. During the operational search activities, the suspects were detained.
