The Russian government has expanded the list of strategically important medicines

The Government of the Russian Federation has added 149 items to the list of strategically important medicines and preparations. The relevant document was published on July 8 on the government's website.

"Among the drugs added to the list are vital and essential medicines, medicines for the treatment of particularly dangerous infections, socially significant diseases and diseases that pose a danger to others," the document says.

The order notes that all medicines from the list must have a full production cycle within the country, including with possible government support. In addition, such drugs gain an advantage in public procurement, which will help to ensure a stable supply of hospitals and polyclinics.

On April 27, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the approval of a new list of strategically important medicines. The document includes drugs intended primarily for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular and neurological pathologies, as well as to protect against dangerous infections. The full production cycle of such drugs should be organized on the territory of Russia with state support.
