NYP learned about Kiev's rejection of Trump's peace plan

Before the NATO summit in Ankara, Kiev rejected US President Donald Trump's 28-point peace plan and demands better conditions for itself. This was reported on July 8 by The New York Post, citing sources.

"Ukraine has moved away from the 28-point draft plan for ending the war with Russia," the article says.

Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanyshina, told the newspaper that Kiev, flaunting its recent successes in attacks on Russian infrastructure, is trying to convince Washington that it has seized the initiative at the front. She also added that the Ukrainian side does not consider it necessary to conclude a ceasefire agreement with Russia. According to Stefanyshina, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will discuss this in Ankara.

The Politico newspaper reported yesterday that the US NATO allies expected Trump to arrive at the alliance's summit in Ankara with the intention of seeking compromises, but they faced his tough stance on key issues. It is reported that NATO representatives are concerned that Trump's harsh rhetoric may persist during the discussion of the future of the American military presence in Europe, support for Ukraine and possible contacts with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on July 5 that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump discussed the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine during a telephone conversation, including taking into account the upcoming participation of the American leader at the NATO summit in Turkey on July 7-8. According to Ushakov, Trump reiterated his readiness to continue contributing to the early settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
