Kolokoltsev held a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sri Lanka
A working meeting was held in New York between the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, General of Police Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs of Sri Lanka, Wijepala Ananda, and the Inspector General of Police of the Republic of Virasuriya Priyanta. This was announced on July 8 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
He noted that Sri Lanka is a partner of the Russian Federation in countering the politicization of the law enforcement sphere, including within the framework of the United Nations (UN).
The Russian Interior Minister stated that the freezing of police contacts by Western countries only plays into the hands of criminals. In addition, he positively assessed the state of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of both countries through Interpol.
Discussing the importance of training competent personnel, Kolokoltsev noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is ready to work out the issue of conducting trainings for Sri Lankan partners in its educational organizations.
Kolokoltsev also met with the head of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Sudan, Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali. The Russian Minister expressed gratitude to his Sudanese counterpart for his assistance in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the law enforcement agencies. During the conversation, Kolokoltsev extended an invitation to the Interior Minister of Sudan to attend the VI International Conference on the Spread of Extremist Ideology, which is scheduled to take place in Moscow next fall.
The Russian Interior Minister also pointed out the importance of increasing the mutual exchange of information, including using the capabilities of Interpol. In addition, the heads of the ministries discussed key issues of joint work in the field of professional personnel training.
Also on the sidelines of the Fifth Summit of Police Chiefs of the UN Member states, Kolokoltsev met with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Drug Control of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi.
The Russian minister stated the agency's readiness to work out a system for monitoring the implementation of agreements approved in June at a meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Public Security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. He noted that the signing of the readmission agreements and the memorandum on countering the spread of new psychoactive substances in Bishkek had a serious impact on the development of the bilateral legal framework. This will make it possible to more effectively block the channels of illegal migration and combat drug trafficking.
The heads of the ministries agreed to share practical experience in the field of combating cybercrime, countering drug trafficking and search.
Kolokoltsev thanked his Pakistani counterpart for his solidarity with many Russian initiatives on the world stage, including in protecting law enforcement contacts from political pressure. The Minister also positively characterized the current level of cooperation between Interpol and invited partners from Pakistan to attend the VI International Conference on the Spread of Extremist Ideology.
On July 7, Kolokoltsev held a meeting with UN Deputy Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix. He pointed out the problem of ignoring the priorities of the host country, as well as the overload of mandates with secondary issues. According to the Minister, it is also necessary to more carefully weigh, evaluate and verify the information on the basis of which the leadership of peacekeeping missions makes decisions.
Kolokoltsev, speaking at the United Nations on the same day, said that the US administration was trying to accuse the Cuban leadership of "anything" to justify the illegitimacy of unilateral sanctions and threats against the island. The American blockade of Cuba, according to him, leads to serious economic consequences, complicates the implementation of socio-economic transformations, and also restricts the country's access to technology, energy resources and investments.
