Valuev called for the IOC to make a decision regarding the athletes of the Russian Federation in a working manner.

The Russian side will take the decision of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in due course. This was announced to Izvestia on July 7 by State Duma deputy and former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev.

"Great, but let's not flatter ourselves. <...> Let's take it in a working order," he said.

In turn, Honored USSR Figure Skating coach Tatiana Tarasova noted that Russia had "won the right" to compete in international competitions.

"If something has moved [in this direction], it's good. We'll wait and see. <...> It's high time [the restrictions] were lifted. Stop spoiling the lives of outstanding athletes and coaches, stop forbidding them," Tarasova said.

State Duma deputy, three-time Olympic champion Irina Rodnina said she was pleased with the decision of the IOC Executive Committee.

"Everything will be great, I congratulate you," said Rodnina.

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and head of the Russian Olympic Committee, noted that such a decision would speed up the process of restoring all Russian athletes to the international arena.
