There were 333 road accidents in Russia during the day.
Over the past day, 333 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 28 people were killed and 833 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on July 7 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry. 57 of the dead were drivers and passengers, the ministry said.
As a result of 70 accidents involving pedestrians, eight people were killed and 62 others were injured. Among the injured are 16 child pedestrians, 12 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 25 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 45 outside their area of operation.
Over the past 24 hours, 65 accidents involving minors have occurred in Russia, in which 65 young road users were injured, including 17 passengers and 30 drivers, ten of whom were driving motor vehicles. There are no dead children.
In addition, 17 bus accidents were recorded on the country's roads, in which there were no fatalities, but 21 road users, including three children, needed medical attention. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
So, in the Irkutsk region, a minivan driver, while trying to overtake, collided with a Gazelle school minibus moving ahead of him in the same direction. Both vehicles left the road after impact and overturned. As a result of the accident, two passengers of the school bus (a 15-year-old teenager and his escort, who were not wearing seat belts) were injured and ended up in the hospital.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more careful when driving, especially in the morning and evening. Extreme care should be taken when leaving a secondary road onto the main one, passing intersections, especially unregulated or with circular traffic, the department notes.
"In addition, we pay attention to ensuring safety when overtaking vehicles, especially in places permitted for this purpose. When starting overtaking, you should make sure that the distance and speed for its implementation are sufficient, and fully allow you to safely complete the maneuver without creating an emergency situation for yourself and other road users," said the deputy head of the Department of road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Colonel police officer Anton Belan.
He reminded drivers that the lives and health of their passengers depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of a person behind the wheel. It is necessary to go on a trip well rested, and before departure it is necessary to check the technical condition of the vehicle, Belan drew attention.
A day earlier, an accident involving two buses occurred in Primorsky Krai. According to preliminary data, the 46-year-old municipal bus driver was not convinced of the safety of the maneuver at the beginning of the movement and collided with another passenger bus. According to the Interior Ministry, no one was injured in the incident.
